Believing that dreaming was not a crime.
The white lies you overheard,
Of wide eyes and misery.
To spend all of your days beginning.
To be down on your luck and to give in.
I'm sick of sounding like I don't make any sense,
But I lose control when everybody's got their own damn song to sing.
She downed a bottle of pills on a Thursday,
'Cause they clipped her wings long before she learned how to fly.
They fluttered wildly and rattled their cages all through the night.
She gave up the fight.
The white lies you overheard while half asleep in the aviary.
To spend all of your days beginning.
To be down on your luck and to give in.
So give me your vaguest grin.
We're just lucky to be blending in.
We're not listening, we're just waiting for our turn to talk.
So forgive me 'cause I let you in.
You're just like me, we're both just like them.
We never meant to be this way.
Where did we go wrong my friend?
When will all our troubles end?
Does it all mean nothing to you anymore?
The truth was more than you could take.
Enough to just perpetuate the ache.
